Augustus Valette

Augustus and Peter Vallette were listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owners of 300 acres of land in St David and 300 acres of land in Portland, total 600 acres.

Messrs. Vallette and Campbell were listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 468 acres of land in St Thomas-in-the-East.

Augustus Vallette was Member of Assembly for St Thomas-in-the-East in 1755, 1756, 1761.

Augustus Vallette of St Thomas-in-the-East, Esquire. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1765. Slave-ownership at probate: 251 of whom 129 were listed as male and 122 as female. 55 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £19435.51 Jamaican currency of which £12631 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £4.75 currency cash, £2376.19 currency debts and £61.66 currency plate.
