Sentence of Meredith Herbert James [late of the town and county of Brecon but at] Barbados 06/11/1777; will of Meredith Herbert James of Barbados proved 10/12/1777. The will [made in 1774] made his wife Jane James his universal legatee; its validity was challenged unsuccessfully by his sister Rebecca Phillpotts and her husband Thomas.
