Mathias Philip of St Andrew, Esquire. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1777. Slave-ownership at probate: 271 of whom 157 were listed as male and 114 as female. 81 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £40,380.98 Jamaican currency of which £9,430.37 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £111.56 currency cash, £25,961.16 currency debts and £237.51 currency plate.

Matthias Philp was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 1719 acres of land in St Andrew and 319 acres of land in Clarendon, total 2038 acres. Philp and Perrin were listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owners of 1190 acres of land in Westmoreland.
