Biography

Partner in Ledwell & Scott of Antigua with Alexander Scott, whose widow Martha Scott (q.v.) was a creditor of the firm.

  1. Vere Langford Oliver provided a summary of the will of Boyce Ledwell (dated 20/08/1788 and recorded 06/08/1794). He left his wife his 'house, slaves, horse & carriage, cattle (except plantation cattle), plate, linen, books and furniture', and all his bonds and securities he left in trust to pay his wife £300 p.a. and annuities of £31 10s p.a. to two sisters in England. His residuary heirs were his daughters Jane and Maria Osborne Ledwell, to whom he added Eliza Boyce Ledwell when she was born in 1791. The house and land where he then resided in Dickinson's Bay called Nibbs belonging to Ledwell & Scott 'to be purchased if possible for my wife's use and after for my children.'
