William Pemberton the eldest

Biography

Slave-owner on Nevis. His will was summarised in Caribbeana Vol. I pp. 311-312. He left his son Edward the estate he had recently purchased of Mr Dunbar; his son Robert the estate known as Terrace Gut; and his son William Butler Pemberton 'all that piece of land late belonging to Richard Beach, together with the land called Springet's land, and another piece of land called the Training ground.' He also left Robert and William Butler land formerly of Stapleton Dunbar and late of Mrs Judith Butler Dunbar near Castle in the lower grounds.
