William Hayle

Biography

William Hayle was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 53 acres of land in St Andrew, 1500 acres in St Thomas-in-the-East, 500 acres in Portland and 880 acres in St George, total 2933 acres. Despite the scale of land-holdings he has not been definitively traced; a William Hayle 'bricklayer' of Kingston appears possibly to have been the same man.
