Biography

Peter Reddie of the Royal Navy married Cecilia Duncanson daughter of James Noble late merchant at Greenock in 1812. He died in 1824 at sea, on passage from Jamaica as commander of the West Indiaman Thisbe.

It is not clear how Peter Reddie's connection shown in the 1817 and 1820 Slave Register entries with the Leith Hall estate arose, but he had married the daughter of James Noble of Greenock: John Noble had been a prior owner of the estate, dying at Greenock, and was possibly his wife's uncle.
