John Woofe was baptised 11/06/1744 in Howden, Yorkshire. He was son of the Reverend Joseph Woofe of Howden. By 1783 he was a physician working in Trelawny, Jamaica.
Owner of 30 enslaved people and 30 stock in St Ann, Jamaica, in 1792.
Dr Wooff's pen was plotted on Robertson's 1804 map of Jamaica on the St Ann-Clarendon border near the ruins of Cave River Barracks.
