Born 21/09/1810 and baptised 28/02/1811 in Kingston, son of Mary Bartelozo, "free mulatto", and Lachlan McLean. His mother died between 1826 and 1829; Lachlan inherited enslaved people in trust with his sisters Isabella Sophia and Catherine Augusta.
