Slave-owner on Jamaica, but in Britain at death, known to have been the holder of the equity of redemption for Craig Hill in St George's in 1810 and still with an interest in the estate in 1825.
Will of William Duncan of St George County of Surrey Jamaica proved 07/11/1833. In the will, made in 1810, he left to his wife Jane [sic] J. Duncan 'all the real and personal property...I may now or hereafter be possessed....and all rights that may come to me in the estate called Craig Milne [sic] situated in the said parish [of St George's] for the equity of redemption or in any other whatsoever.' In the attestation dated 1833 he was shown as late of Cheshunt in Hertfordshire.
On 16/11/1825 William Duncan and his wife Janet Jane were party to an assignment concerning Craig Mill: Assignment of an annuity and debt between William Ellis Nembhard of Upper Berkeley Street in the County of Middlesex; William Duncan of Nelson Square in the County of Surrey, Gentleman; Janet Jane his wife and Frances Wildman of Tunbridge Wells, Spinster, for the agreed purchase of the said annuity and debt of £400 respecting the late Henry Wildman and the plantation or sugar works called Craig Hill [sic] on the island of Jamaica.
