Only child and heiress of William Smith of Barbados (q.v.). She married Rev. William Bruce of Belfast in 1823: he has an entry in the ODNB as 'non-subscribing Presbyterian minister' that describes his wife as 'only child of William Smith of Barbados and his wife, Catherine Wentworth', and the Rev. Bruce himself as 'one of Belfast's leading citizens.'
