  1. Owner of Woodstock in St George, Jamaica. Merchant, formerly of Jamaica but of Poolton in Lancaster when he wrote his will in 1740 (proved in 1743).

Peter Woodhouse the elder now of Lancaster, Lancashire, merchant.

To my eldest son Peter Woodhouse and his heirs forever all my messuages, lands etc at Thornton in the parish of Poolton in Lancashire, to be cleared out of my personal estate of all legacies and incumbrances. Also to Peter my silver tankard.

To my loving wife Mary all such household goods, furniture, my chaise and chaise horse and all my plate.

To my son Thomas Woodhouse my mahogany desk and bookcase.

All rest and residue of my personal estate in Jamaica and England and elsewhere to my executors in trust, to sell and divide the remainder equally amongst my younger children James, Thomas and William and such child or children as I shall have by my present wife if any share and share alike.

All my messuages, buildings, lands etc in the parish of St George, Jamaica, called Woodstock to my eldest son Peter Woodhouse upon special trust and confidence to make absolute sale of the same with all convenient speed, and all the moneys arising to be paid and divided equally amongst my wife and my younger children James, Thomas and William and any child or children I may have with my present wife. My wife's share being a sufficient release of her dower.

To my wife for her natural life my messuage, tenement and buildings with two lots of land which I lately purchased of Peter Furnell Esquire to the east on Stainton Street, on the north on North Street in Kingston, Jamaica. After her death these to my eldest son Peter Woodhouse in trust to sell and the monies arising to be divided equally amongst my younger children and any children of my present wife.

Peter Woodhouse, John Boises, merchant, Miles Toronson[?], merchant, and James Holmes, gentleman, all of Lancaster, to be executors and trustees.
