Member of Assembly for St Thomas-in-the-Vale, 1715-1716 and St Elizabeth in 1719. Married Anna Williamina, daughter of Major William Archbould (he died 1705) and his wife Mary (she died 1688/9). Anna Williamina's first husband was Major Richard Stoddart (who died in 1714). John and Anna Williamina had three children baptised in St Catherine: Henry (1717), John (1718) and Anna Wilhelmina (1720).
Tentatively identified as John Hanson of St Catherine, Esquire. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1721. Slave-ownership at probate: 82 of whom 53 were listed as male and 29 as female. 30 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £3859.21 Jamaican currency of which £1824 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £0 currency debts and £85.96 currency plate.
