Merchant of Montego Bay, partner with James Gibson (q.v.) and possibly also associated with Sir Joseph Birch (q.v.) of Liverpool from whom he and Gibson bought shares in two vessels in 1787 and 1792. He was probably also the Hatton of Wedderburn & Hatton, factors at Montego Bay for a slave-voyage of the Friendship owned by Patrick Fitzhenry and James Rogers of Bristol in 1793.
