Heir (including of 'slave-property') to her brother William Donaldson of Grenada (q.v.). The latter's will gives her husband as John McCourty writer of Kirkcudbright, whereas a marriage was recorded at Kirkcudbright 25/08/1766 between Janet Donaldson and James McCourty, and the probate of William Donaldson shows James McCourtie writer mistakenly called John McCourty in the will. James McCourtie writer was among the freeholders for the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright in 1790.
