Biography

Son and partner of James Walker of Woodlands (q.v.) as London West India merchants.

  1. Marriage of John Walker of Artillery Place Finsbury Square to Jessy, daughter of the late John Johnson [sic] of St Thomas-in-the-East 07/02/1820.

  2. In 1851, John Walker 'landed proprietor N.B.' born West indies aged 58 and his wife Jessy born West Indies aged 52 [57?] were living at 14 West Mall Clifton with three children aged 18 to 21 all born in Dumfries.

  3. Will of John Walker of Woodland and Crawfordton proved 24/10/1857. He left £10,000 to his daughter Jessy Elizabeth and £15,000 to each of his other two daughters. His main heir was his son Capt. George Gustavus Walker.
