Biography

Slave-owner in Jamaica, owner of Fort Stewart c. 1778-1780. Apparently resident, shown by Feurtado as Provost Marshall 1774 and Member of Assembly for St George in 1776: to date no death-date has been traced for him, either in Jamaica or Britain. David Chalmers or Chambers (q.v.) held a mortgage from 'Mr Mead' over Fort Stewart and Spring plantation estates in 1780.
