Small-scale slave-owner on St Vincent, in Britain when he made his will.

  1. Will of Samuel William Finch [late of the island of St Vincent now residing in the parish] of South Benfleet Essex proved 08/03/1839. The will is undated, but must have been made c. 1836, given that he left to his uncle William Finch the compensation money now in the hands of the Commissioners at Grate [sic] George Street, and all moneys that might arise from the hire of his 'negroes' residing on St Vincent and under the care of John Beresford his guardian.
