Francis Baxter

???? - 1778

Biography

Francis Baxter's will shows strong connections with Jamaica, probably mercantile. His wife Sarah was the sister of Edward Manning (q.v.), and her daughters (Baxter's step-daughters) were beneficiaries under Manning's will.

  1. Will of Francis Baxter of Bonds Court Walbrook [made in 1769] proved 21/11/1778. He instructed his debts be paid out of his property on the island of Jamaica. He left £1000 immediately to his wife Sarah. He left his household effects to her for life and then to his daughters Ann and Frances Baxter, and £500 to his grandson Thomas Williams Walford, son of his daughter Mary and her husband Thomas Walford late of Jamaica. He ordered his Jamaica executors to sell his property there and left the whole in trust for his wife for life and then his two daughters. He described his partner as George Field.
