London banker, partner with Richard Fuller and John Halford in the private bank known as Fuller, Halford & Vaughan c. 1774 and later as Fuller Banbury, Nix & Co., a predecessor of RBS/NatWest.
John Vaughan of Cornhill banker and John Halford of Cornhill banker were parties to a deed of 05/10/1774 under which Thomas Taylor of St Vincent sold annuities of £360 p.a. to a group of London bankers and merchants including the two men, secured on Taylor's estate and enslaved people in St George's parish, St Vincent. Vaughan bought an annuity of £50 p.a. for his life and that of Mary Vaughan, not further identified in the deed.
Will of John Vaughan banker of Cornhill proved 04/02/1803. He left legacies totalling £5000 to relatives of his partners in the Fuller family, and his residuary estate to his nephew and nieces surnamed Chowrie.
