James Robertson was a partner with John Petrie (q.v.) and Dugald Campbell in a London merchant firm active in Tobago and St Vincent in the 1790s and apparently in financial trouble by the end of that decade. He was possibly the James Roberton [junior] late merchant [in London] of Dundee, Angus whose will was proved 14/06/1816 and who left his estate in trust for his father (James Robertson, manufacturer of Cowgate, Dundee) for life and then until his father's youngest child by his present marriage reached 14, and then to three siblings in Scotland.
PROB 11/1581/189.
