Resident slave-owner on St Vincent, Speaker of the House of Assembly, and buyer of Rose Hall, Clydeside and Palmyra with 145 enslaved people with John Cropper and Nathaniel Basnett Cropper in 1800 for £40,000, of which £23,000 was to go directly to Hamilton's creditors. Kenneth Morgan records the sale of 14 enslaved people by the devisees of David Miller in an indenture dated 01/03/1808.
