Ephraim Allen

???? - 1778

Biography

Ephraim Allen of Maid Lane, Southwark, baker and William Maynard of Christ Church Surrey coal merchant were among a group of individuals purchasing, for a total of £15,000, annuities from John Mills secured on the latter's estates and enslaved people on Nevis in 1774, when for £225 they purchased an annuity of £22 10s p.a., for the lives of Jane Randall aged 25 wife of John Randall calico printer of Vine Street, Lambeth Marsh, and of John Randall himself aged 29. It seems likely that Allen and Maynard were trustees for the Randalls.

  1. Will of Ephraim Allen baker of Saint Saviour Southwark proved 02/06/1778. The will disposed of £1500 in consols he instructed his executors to buy: it was silent on the Nevis annuity.
