Son of Sir Hanson Berney (q.v.). He reportedly sold Hansons or Upper Berney c.1809. The slave-owning name of Hanson reappears in Sir Hanson Berney 8th bart. and Sir Henry Hanson Berney, 9th bart, son and grandson of Sir John Berney respectively.
