Biography

Slave-owner on Barbados, probably son of Joseph Pilgrim of Lewisham whose will was proved in 1734 and brother of Joseph Pilgrim of Fish Street Hill whose will was proved in 1758.

  1. Will of Rev. John Pilgrim of New Windsor Berkshire proved 24/04/1778. He left to his wife Keturah his estate in Christ Church Barbados with all the 'negroes, stock, cattle and utensils of every kind thereof belonging', and his house at Windsor. He left monetary legacies totalling some £1000 to family and friends. He left 6 guineas p.a. to his 'black servant Henry Windsor' as long as he remained in the service of Keturah Pilgrim who would maintain and clothe him, and on her death £20 and an annuity of £20 p.a.
