Biography

London merchant, described as surviving partner of [his late uncle] Beeston Long in 1789 and almost certainly the son of Roger Drake senior (q.v.).

  1. Will of George Drake of Bedford Square proved 07/05/1800. He confirmed his marriage settlement and left a further £1000 to his wife Ann. Later in the will he explained that he was entitled to make bequests out of £16,000 bank annuities in trust under his marriage settlement and left £6000 of it after his wife's death to his cousin Isabella wife of George Mackenzie a soldier in the EI Co., £6000 among other relatives and the remainder to his wife Ann[e]. He left the books bequeathed to his father by Nathaniel Cole to his cousin Roger Drake, and legacies of 100 guineas each to family and friends, including several members of the Long family.
