Mayor of Shrewsbury, and majority owner of Rowley's plantation and the enslaved people attached to it on Barbados, which and whom came to him through his wife Alice nee Rowley, daughter of Seth Rowley. In his will proved 25/05/1731 he left 3/7ths of the plantation [it is not clear when and how the other half of his interest was disposed] to his daughter Anne Hill for life and then to his son Thomas for life and then to the latter's son John.

Note that Philip Thomas married Priscilla daughter and coheir of John Hill, Mayor of Shrewsbury 1689 by Alice his first wife daughter and sole heiress of Seth Rowley.
