Frances Holburne formerly Lascelles (née Ball)

???? - 1761

Born on Barbados, daughter of Guy Ball (c. 1686-after 1722) the owner of Williams later Ball's plantation in Christ Church Barbados. She married twice, to Edward Lascelles (1702-1747) and after his death Admiral Sir Francis Holburne. The Holburne museum in Bath holds the skeleton of a Plantation Book of 1722 for Williams estate when it was owned by the Ball family.

Simon D. Smith, Slavery, Family and Gentry Capitalism in the British Atlantic pp. 336-39 contains a discussion of the possibility that Frances Ball was a woman of colour.
