2nd Jan 1785 - 1828
Thomas Kelly Geoghegan, son of Joseph Geoghegan of St David, Planter, was bequeathed £2,000 Jamaican currency by a codicil dated 23/11/1790 to the will of John Kelly of St Thomas-in-the-East, Jamaica, Esquire.
Thomas Kelly Geoghegan enslaved four people in 1820 and six in 2823 in St Andrew, owner by right of wife, late Elizabeth Aitchison. In 1826 in St Catherine, he was registered as owning five people, ‘owner by right of wife’.
On 27/04/1785, “Baptised the infant son of Mr and Mrs Geoghegan at Healthful Hill, name Thomas Kelly Geoghegan, born 2 January 1785; private baptism completed on the 22nd of October following. Saint Thomas in the East, Jamaica.”
“Christa Harris Geoghegan, dau of Ann Butler, a free qn by Thomas Kelly Geoghegan, baptism on 28 Dec 1817, at Kingston, Jamaica, p.320. Frances Matthews Geoghegan, dau of Mary Butler, a free qn by Joseph Sam Geoghegan, baptism on 28 Dec 1817, at Kingston, Jamaica.” This close association suggests Thomas Kelly Geoghegan might be Joseph Sam Geoghegan’s brother (or other close relative).
“Thomas Kelly Geoghegan, white, buried at Spanish Town, 12 Sept 1828, aged 43 years.”
