English land-owner of Derbyshire (d. 1751 or 1752), married to Judith Alleyne (daughter of Abel Alleyne (q.v.)), and creditor of his wife's family of Barbados slave-owners. His daughter Mary married William Fitzherbert of Tissington, MP (1712-72): their son was Sir William Fitzherbert 1st bart. (q.v.).
'Declaration by Littleton Poyntz Meynell that he has given his daughter Mary Meynell all debts and demands due and owing to him from Thomas Alleyne and Mrs. Elizabeth Alleyne of Barbados or any others in the said island, amounting in all to some £3000 plus interest (list of bonds); and an annuity of £100 payable by Edward Wortley esq. secured on a bond of £2500 and in consideration of £500 paid to Wortley by Meynell; and a further annuity of £100 "for such time as I shall think proper" towards maintenance of Meynell's daughter, Judith; and the use of donor's house in Audley St. and furniture, at 6-month's notice to quit; on condition that Mary pays the rent of the said house to the dean and chapter of Westminster; meets expenses of housekeeping; maintain Judith till 21, and provide a fortune for her when 21. Dated 24 June Date: 1741.'
A state of the demands of Littleton Pointz Meynell on the estate of Abel Alleyne late of Barbados esq. deceased, with counsel's opinion that a suit should be begun in Barbados against Reynold Alleyne for a discovery and account of the assets of Abel Alleyne and satisfaction of Meynell's demands.
