1794 - 22nd Sep 1846
Slave-owner in Jamaica, apparently resident.
In 1825, Henry Shergold relinquished his executorship of the will of Elizabeth Anderson of Westmoreland [made in 1823] to her grandson and residuary heir William Bucknor Mowatt of St James Jamaica, then a minor. Oddly, given that William Bucknor Mowatt was ostensibly under 21 or 25 in 1825, a man of the same name William Bucknor Mowatt appears as the owner of an estate as early as 1817, raising the possibility of two generations of a man of this name, but the death-notice below instead suggests a date-of-birth of c. 1795.
Death "On the 22nd Sept. [1846], at Lucea, Jamaica, suddenly, in the 52nd year of his age, Wm . Bucknor Mowatt, Esq ., of the firm of Watson, Mowatt, and Co."
