Son of Herbert Newton Jarrett IV (1780-1811) and Anne Stephens (the daughter of James Stephens of Hinton-on-the-Green Oxfordshire and Camerton Somerset), and brother of Stephen Jarrett (q.v.). John Jarrett's father was the cousin of Herbert Newton Jarrett V (1797-1879) (q.v.) (the respective fathers of Herbert Newton Jarrett IV and V were John Jarrett (1746-1809) and Herbert Newton Jarrett III, who were half-brothers). John Jarrett (1746-1809) had owned the Kent and Golden Grove estates for which his grandson John Jarrett (1802-1863) was paid compensation.
Married Anna Eliza Waller (1803-1868), daughter of Sir (Jonathan) Wathen Waller of Pope's Villa Twickenham 15/07/1823. Died 25/04/1863, buried Camerton. High Sheriff of Somerset 1840-1. Eton and Christ Church Oxford.
Son of Herbert Newton Jarrett of St Marylebone; matriculated Christ Church Oxford 08/05/1821 aged 18.
