Rev. Adam Sedgwick

Co-trustee (with James Davis, q.v.) of Ann Sill (q.v.), a West Yorkshire landowner who claimed compensation as owner of Providence estate in St James Jamaica, but then died: the compensation was awarded to her trustees.

1. Born 22/03/1785 in Dent, West Riding, Yorkshire, son of Rev. Richard Sedgwick, Adam Sedgwick was educated at Dent Grammar School and Sedbergh School and entered Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1808. Appointed Woodwardian professor of geology in 1818 and Canon of Norwich in 1834, he was President of the Geological Society and one of the founders of the Cambridge Philosophical Society. Sedgwick died at Cambridge 27/01/1873. Wealth at death: under £4000.
