William Maynard Payne (q.v.) and himself a clergyman: the Portes estate and the enslaved people on it, the property of William Maynard Payne, were reported as having been sold at a Chancery sale in 1834. In 1881 Rev. William Maynard Payne was living in St George's Hanover Square aged 73 with his family but he appears to have been resident largely in Barbados.
