Two possible matches in the 1841 census: William Whyte, age 60, Kirk Brae Cottage, Liberton, bookseller; William Whyte, age 39, Fairney Hill Cottage, Edinburgh, marble merchant. William Whyte the bookseller had a shop at 13 George Street in Edinburgh, 1824-1846. No further identification made.
