Very likely John de la Poer Beresford, Colonial Secretary of St Vincent.

  1. Son and heir of George de la Poer, Bishop of Kilmore and Ardagh. Born April 1796 in Ireland. Matriculated University of Cambridge 1815. Colonial Secretary of the Island of St Vincent, West Indies, for 31 years. Married Harriet Eliza, daughter of Hon. William Wylly, Chief Justice of St Vincent, 06/05/1822. Died 16/09/1856 aged 61 at Shirley, Southampton.

  2. Beresford's mother was Frances, daughter of Jervis Parker Bushe of Kilfane.

  3. John Beresford of St Vincent was listed as a subscriber to Charles Shephard's An Historical Account of the Island of Saint Vincent, published in 1832.
