One of his sons, also Miles Brathwaite [1801-1857], married Elizabeth Jane Welch with whom he had twelve children. Their eldest daughter Elizabeth Jane Brathwaite [1825-1903], who married (1) in 1846 John Wickham Redwood, later Langham W. The Arnos Vale Estate was sold by the West India Encumbered Estates Court to F.R. Braithwaite of St Kitts on 1 November 1858 for £10,050. At the time, the estate was 454 acres in size. The historian Reginald Cust notes that this sum of over ten thousand pounds was much higher than expected.
