Sources

T71/1611 letter dated 16/11/1835 from John Brander 'Huish' [more probably = 'Keith'], in which he talks of his return from Trinidad. He was active in registration of enslaved people on behalf of Edward Ellice et al in 1834; Fiona J. Mackintosh http://fiona-midatlantic.blogspot.com/2011/01/episode-6-here-comes-cavalry.html [accessed 24/05/2011] gives an account of John Brander, the illegitimate son of John Brander of Pitgaveny (who died c. 1826), an entrepreneur in Tahiti in the 1840s and 1850s. Again no link has been established.
