Biography

Maria Geagan 'now or late of Trinidad' was singled out as a debtor of the failed bankers Robert Young of Taunton (q.v.) and Thomas Young of Milverton in 1814, implying she was then a more substantial financial figure than implied by the single enslaved person for whom she was awarded compensation in the 1830s. She was presumably connected with John Geagan (q.v.), who had owned the Laurel Hill and Adelphi estates in Trinidad.
