Barrister. Only son of Sir Edward Hyde East (1764–1847) [q.v.], judge, and Jane Isabella, daughter of Joseph Chaplin Hankey of Old Hall, East Bergholt, Suffolk. Born in Bloomsbury, London. Educated at Harrow and Oxford. Called to the Bar (Inner Temple), 1834. His wife, Caroline Eliza (1794–1870), was the second daughter of James Henry Leigh and the Hon. Julia Twiselton Fiennes, daughter of Lord Saye and Sele. Succeeded his father as second baronet on 8 January 1847. Liberal Conservative MP, 1831-32, 1835-1864. Died at his home, Bourton House, near Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire, 1878, leaving no heir.
Member of the committee of the Eyre Defence Fund in 1866.
