Will of Robert Rainey formerly of the City of London merchant but late of Clifton who died at 22 Sion Hill Clifton 01/05/1868 proved by Robert Joy City of Dublin grand-nephew, effects under £60,000. In 1841 a Robert Rainey appears aged 45 merchant living Egham Surrey, apparently alone; in 1851 Robert Rainey, West India merchant, aged 56 born Barbadoes was staying as a visitor at Almondsbury Gloucestershire in the house of his sister Jane Ludlow aged 67 born Ireland; in 1861 a Robert Rainey gentleman aged 66 born Barbadoes was a visitor at Furnivals Inn. This Robert Rainey was baptised 16/09/1794 in St Michael's Barbados.
No connection has been established to date with the Robert Rainey of Size Lane, partner with Duncan and Alexander Hunter in Hunters, Rainey & Co., who was bankrupted in 1805.
