Biography

Liverpool cotton broker, who appeared in the compensation records as assignee and trustee.

  1. Nicholas Salisbury counterclaiming with Henry Wilson on St Lucia Nos. 695A & B and 844 & 845 was identified as of Liverpool and as surviving assignees of William Coupland and Co. In 1843 new assignees were sought to replace Nicholas Salisbury, Henry Wilson and John Harvey deceased.    

  2. Nicholas Salisbury of Liverpool can be tied into John Proctor, John Bond and possibly John Taylor Wilson, who also appear in the award BG 608A & B, by an item in March 1812; 'All persons having any demand against the estate of John Proctor late of Queen Square in Lancaster but late of Cranage Hall [Cheshire] deceased are requested to send the particulars thereof without delay to Mr Nicholas Salisbury of Liverpool, Mr John Bond of Lancaster or Mr Wilson solicitor Lancaster.'   

  3. 1841 census shows Nicholas Salisbury merchant aged 70 living at Wavertree with wife Anne 65 (and Maria, Anne and William Ewart, aged 9,8, and 6). Death of a Nicholas Salisbury registered Q2 1843 Kensington; buried at All Souls Kensal Green aged 75 (of Westbourne Terrace Paddington) 18/04/1843; Will of Nicholas Salisbury merchant of Liverpool proved 21/08/1843.
