Biography

Henry Wiles, co-owner of Bryan's Hill in Port Royal, Jamaica, with his brother John (q.v.). Born in Lincolnshire in 1771, his father was the head gardener at the nearby Holywell estate. Encouraged by his elder brother James (q.v.) to move to Jamaica in 1795 at the age of 24 where he worked firstly as an overseer and then purchased his own estate and became a coffee planter.
