Partner of James Ewing in the Glaswegian firm of James Ewing & Co. (q.v.).

  1. William Mathieson's executor (and presumably son) James Ewing Mathieson was a banker with Fuller, Banbury Nix and Mathieson.

  2. William Mathieson, merchant, age 50, was living on Sauchiehall Road in Glasgow in the census of 1841 with Eliza age 30, Elizabeth 15, James 15, Rebecca 13, Janet 10 and 3 female servants. The death certificate of his daughter Rebecca gives her mother's name as Margaret nee Scott and is signed by her brother James E. Mathieson.

  3. Inventory of the personal estate and effects of the deceased William Mathieson, merchant in Glasgow, who died 12/12/1846 made by James Ewing Mathieson, merchant in Glasgow and executor. Total effects £24,101 8s 3d, of which £18,408 19s 4d was credit in the books of James Ewing and Company and £7,500 was his 50% interest in 8 ships.
