Emily née Richardson, the widow of Edward James of Trelawny, a mortgagee of the estate owned by Isaac Higgin.
Edward James and Emily Richardson both 'of this parish' were married at St George Hanover Square by Banns 01/10/1829. Edward James was 'late of Trelawny' and Emily was the daughter of Mr T[homas] Richardson MD of Brentwood.
Edward James was the Edward James of South Weald Essex (close to Brentwood) whose will was proved 29/02/1832.
Capt. W. H. Sampson, 59th Foot, and Emily, relict of the late Edward James esq of Trelawny, Jamaica, and eldest daughter of Thomas Richardson, MD, of Brentwood, Essex, were married in South Weald Church, in September 1837.
The will of Emily Sampson, wife of William Henry Sampson, late of 13 Brunswick Road Brighton was proved 04/06/1878, effects £3000.

Wills online PROB 11/1795, Edward James now of Brentwood in the parish of South Weald Essex. The will makes his wife Emily, Charles Brooke Hunt of the Ordnance Office in the Tower of London and Richard Heatley of Mincing Lane executors and executrix and refers to the mortgage over Isaac Higgins' property. He left £1400 to be invested in an annuity for his sister Mary Partridge James, and refers to his natural son Richard Knowles and his nephew Edward Knowles James of Poughkeepsie New York.
