Edlmann was born in Austria and lived at Bickley House, Bromley in 1851, a widower aged 57. Acted as agent for [Francis Thadden] Rayer and [Joseph] Schlick.
Married Mary Ann Agassiz at St Luke's, Finsbury Square, in 1823. A merchant of Finsbury Square at the baptisms of his daughters Antonia Frederica (1824) and Josephine Constantia (1825). At Peckham for the births of his remaining children Adina, Frederick, Constance, Charles and Herbert (between 1826 and 1842). At Retreat, Deptford Lane, Peckham, in 1841, merchant, with wife Mary Anne age 40, and children. At Bromley House in 1851 with his children, father-in-law A.D. Lewis Agapiz, sister-in-law Emma Agapiz, 10 female servants, 2 male servants and a private tutor.
The will of Joseph Edlmann of Chiselhurst, Kent, was proved in 1857.
