Biography

London merchant, partner in Chalmers Guthrie (q.v.) until his retirement in 1859, awarded with David Charles Guthrie (q.v.) the compensation under two awards in Trinidad and Tobago as trustees and a third in Trinidad apparently in their own right.

  1. Son of George Cheape (and Lilias Guthrie), married Harriet Peach Lumsden (daughter of John Lumsden, of 30 Portland Place) 06/06/1845 at St Marylebone, when he was described as a merchant of St Dunstans in the East (David Charles Guthrie was a witness).

  2. 12/10/1886 confirmation of Commissariot of Fife of Alexander Cheape (brother) and George Clerk Cheape late of 11th Hussars and James Cheape the younger of Lathockar nephews as executors of George Clerk Cheape of Strathtyrum and Wellfield who died at Wellfield House near Straithmiglo 25/06/1886.
