Matthew Marshall

Identified in the compensation records as Cashier of the Bank of England,and awarded the compensation for enslaved people at Guapo in Trinidad. It is not clear whether this was in his own name or in his official capacity (as was the case with his co-awardee George Baillie (q.v.))

1. Chief Cashier 1835-1864. Marriage to Charlotte Jane Wilkin St Marylebone 03/04/1820. In 1841 he was living at the Bank of England with Charlotte Jane aged 45, Matthew aged 15 and Elizabeth aged 10. In 1871 he was living at Amersham House, Beckenham Kent with his family. He died there in 1873 leaving £25,000 (resworn October 1874 from £18,000 at probate).
