Claimant or beneficiary

Biography

Trustee for the marriage settlement of Eliza Brooke (née Clough) with her husband Thomas Langford Brooke (q.v.), both grandchildren of Rev. Sir Thomas Delves Broughton (1745-1813): with co-trustees he was awarded the compensation for Laroche's estate on Antigua.

This is almost certainly Thomas Delves Broughton (1778-1846), the son of Rev. Sir Thomas Delves Broughton and uncle of Eliza Brooke (née Clough) and Thomas Langford Brooke. It is theoretically possible that it is the Rev. Thomas Delves Broughton (1801-1859), the son of Thomas Delves Broughton (1778-1846) but the marriage to which the settlement under this award refers took place in 1817. There was significant intermarriage between the Langford Brooke and Broughton families.
