Biography

Awarded part of the compensation for the Anns Grove and Two Friends plantations[s] in British Guiana with James Manning and Bryan Holme (q.v.), probably as trustees for members of the Sutton and Rogers families. Bryan Holme was certainly a London solicitor: Manning and Watson have yet to be identified. 'Heaphy' may be a mistranscription. In the will of James Henry Watson of Knightsbridge Green proved 21/06/1854 he left the bulk of his property to his grand-daughter, the daughter of his late daughter Susannah Elizabeth Rogers, although no relationship has been established to the free people of colour in the Rogers family of Demerara.
